I have alot to post but for today, I'm posting sources for designing a unit on Maple Syrup making. I submit an article each month for our local homeschooling newsletter and I thought it would be fun to share some of the sources that I found.
I have found all kinds of sources for Maple Syrup making, including a family that owns a Maple Syrup farm. Their children are all grown now, but they homeschooled their children and have 10 weeks of lesson plans available on their website!! I’m excited to try some of their activities. What a wonderful resource to use for a fun school day or unit in your home!

In addition, The Old Schoolhouse Magazine has a wonderful article in their Fall 2008 edition. They list all kinds of activities for each subject. Use related words for spelling or vocabulary lessons. Examine the health benefits of using maple syrup over sugar or honey (and I can only imagine the benefits over processed syrup makers). The ideas are endless!! Enjoy!!
